A chieftain of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igbo apex socio-political organization, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has apologized to the Afenifere group over an anti-Yoruba comment made by an Igbo businessman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. Isiguzoro said Iwuanyanwu’s remark was targetting the former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Lagos, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo. The Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) on Thursday arraigned Chrisland School Ltd and four staff members for the alleged manslaughter of a 12-year-old student Whitney Adeniran. They were arraigned before Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Ikeja High Court. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ademoye Adewale, Kuku Fatai, Belinda Amao, Nwatu Ugochi Victoria were arraigned on a two-count charge of manslaughter and negligent acts. Suspected herdsmen, on Thursday morning, allegedly invaded one of the public secondary schools in Oyo State, injuring students and teachers. The herders invaded the Community Grammar School, Alaropo Nla in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state. The herdsmen, according to an eyewitness account, numbering over twenty, allegedly invaded the school with their cattle and injured some of the students and teachers. Reuben Fasoranti, former leader of Afenifere, says the organisation recognises Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president-elect. In a statement on Wednesday, the elder statesman also reacted to the suspension of two national officers of the Yoruba socio-political group, describing it as “null and void”. Afenifere led by Ayo Adebanjo suspended Jare Ajayi, the group’s national publicity secretary, and Abagun Kole Omololu, national organising secretary. The Lagos government has discontinued the 50 percent reduction in the fares of the buses owned by the state. The directive was announced in a statement released on Tuesday by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). On February 8, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos state governor, announced a 50 percent reduction in the prices of all state-owned transport services.
