The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,  Ahmed Audi, on Thursday, threatened to arrest and prosecute unlicensed guards from the Private Guard Companies. Audi also threatened to sanction PGCs for the employment and deployment of unlicensed guards The NSCDC CG stated this while handing over licences to 44 PGCs in Abuja. A socio-democratic group, Rere Foundation for Progress and Development Nigeria has urged the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to prioritise the reduction of fuel price on assumption of office. The group lamented that the high cost of fuel has made the value of goods go up and it is making life unlivable for poor Nigerians. The Supreme Court will today, Friday, May 26, deliver its judgment on a lawsuit seeking the disqualification of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The suit, filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claims that Shettima’s nomination as Tinubu’s running mate violated electoral laws. The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, approved the extension of the implementation period of the capital component of the 2022 Appropriation Act by six months, from June to December 2023. Tribunal has dismissed the petitions filed by the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) and Action Peoples Party (APP), against the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat. The Chairman of the three-man Tribunal, Justice Arum Ashom, dismissed the petition after the petitioners withdrew them. A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos has dismissed an application by the Nigeria Police Force seeking to arraign Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti over alleged assault on a police officer.
