The government of Rivers State, led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has unveiled free buses to help cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu‘s government. Represented by his deputy, Ngozi Nma Odu, Fubara said the free bus ride is a deliberate intervention by the Rivers state government to mitigate the effect of the economic challenges. “It is a gift given to us, and therefore, we must treasure it,” Odu said during the unveiling of the buses. Carlo Ancelotti will stand trial for tax fraud after the Real Madrid coach allegedly failed to declare image rights earnings in 2014 to the Spanish tax office. A Spanish judge said Ancelotti had “acknowledged” the actions which deprived the country’s treasury of 386,361 euros ($428,000), in a court document seen by AFP on Wednesday. The official website of the Ogun State government (www.https://www.ogunstate.gov.ng) has been compromised by hackers. Checks by this news publication showed that the hackers who identified themselves as Aliester Crowley left a note on the website which reads, “Update your security! Greetings from the Maldives” The hackers also inserted a link to a Youtube page, @AliesterCrowleyMV, where videos of other website takeovers are posted, including some belonging to the Mexican government. The Youtube page also contains some hacking tips and tricks, including authentication bypass, remote code execution and reverse engineering. Wale Adeniyi, acting comptroller-general of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), says not all borders in the country have been reopened.  He made the clarification on Tuesday while speaking to state house correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Villa. Former President Muhammadu Buhari had, in August 2019, shut all land borders in the country as part of efforts to curtail smuggling and boost local production of rice. FIFA has sanctioned Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr, because of an issue involving Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa. Judge Robert Gettleman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago has sentenced Jacob Olalekan Ponle, also known as Woodberry, to eight years and three months in prison for his coordination of a multimillion-dollar fraud.
