Austin Eguavoen: “I’m The Coach Of Super Eagles Again Because It’s God’s Plan”.
Super Eagles Interim coach Austin Eguavoen has expressed his unwavering commitment to his country, stating his readiness to coach Nigeria’s national football team whenever called upon.
Eguavoen, who has previously led the Super Eagles, emphasised that his appointment was not something he sought out but rather an intervention from God. Speaking passionately about his love for Nigeria, he said, “The position I occupied as Super Eagles coach, I didn’t beg for it. It’s an intervention from God. It’s not possible for me to reject serving a country I love so much.”
The former defender, who has a deep connection to Nigerian football, made it clear that he would never turn down the opportunity to lead the national team again. “Nigerians love football, and anytime the opportunity to lead the Super Eagles comes, I think I should react positively to that,” he added.
Eguavoen also spoke about the positive atmosphere in the team camp during his tenure, expressing confidence in their potential. “I am here today due to a call from Nigeria and Nigerians. The mood in the camp is good, and we are coming out to win,” he stated, reflecting his determination to bring success to the Super Eagles whenever he is called upon.
Super Eagles will be in action later today 5pm Nigerian time against Benin Republic who won the first leg 2:1. Nigeria must ensure they get the maximum 3 point to keep hope of qualifications for AFCON 2025 alive.
