Atiku Abubakar Pays Tribute To Late Afenifere Leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has paid tribute to the late Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, describing his passing as a monumental loss to Nigeria.
During his visit to the elder statesman’s residence, Atiku reflected on the inevitability of death and the remarkable legacy left behind by Pa Adebanjo. He emphasised the values the late leader upheld, particularly his dedication to Nigeria’s unity and peaceful coexistence.
“It is quite true that this house has hosted me a couple of times. What did I take away from this house? The virtues that Pa Adebanjo lived and preached throughout his life,” Atiku stated.
He expressed deep respect for Adebanjo’s contributions to national development, acknowledging his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering commitment to truth and justice.
“We all have to go one day, but with some people, God grants them a worthy life—one that can rarely be compared to others. His loss is a monumental one, not just for his immediate family but for those of us who admired him and tried to emulate his ways,” he added.
Pa Ayo Adebanjo passed away on Friday, 14 February 2025, at his home in Lekki, Lagos, at the age of 96. Since his passing, his residence has received several dignitaries, including former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Peter Obi, and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Atiku reassured Adebanjo’s family of his unwavering support, stating, “On behalf of my entourage, we are here to condole with the family and let you know that we share your loss because he was also a father to us. We will continue to honour him by standing by the family he left behind.”
Pa Adebanjo was widely respected for his dedication to democratic ideals and his relentless advocacy for good governance in Nigeria. His passing marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
