Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, Julieta Valls Noyes, embarks on a crucial diplomatic mission to Ethiopia and Chad from March 18th to March 23rd.
In both countries, Assistant Secretary Noyes will engage in high-level discussions with senior government officials, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations.
The primary focus of these discussions will revolve around refugee resettlement, the provision of humanitarian assistance, and the protection of aid workers across the continent.
Of particular importance will be the implementation of pledges made at the December 2023 Global Refugee Forum.
Assistant Secretary Noyes aims to ensure that these commitments translate into tangible actions that improve the lives of refugees and enhance the capacity of host countries to support them.
In Chad, the agenda will expand to include discussions on the response to the Sudan crisis and broader humanitarian challenges facing the country.
Assistant Secretary Noyes will work closely with the Government of Chad and international partners to address these urgent issues effectively.
