Arsenal Unveils Andrea Berta As New Sporting Director.
Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Andrea Berta as the club’s new Sporting Director, bringing in a highly respected football executive with extensive experience at the highest level.
Berta, who previously held technical roles at Carpenedolo, Parma, and Genoa, spent nearly 12 years at Atlético Madrid. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping squads that secured LaLiga titles in 2013/14 and 2020/21, as well as winning the Europa League in 2018. His time at the Spanish club also saw successes in the Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup, and Supercopa de España, alongside two UEFA Champions League final appearances.
Speaking about his new role, Berta expressed his excitement at joining Arsenal during what he described as an “exciting period” for the club. He stated that he had followed the club’s progress with admiration and was impressed by the efforts made to reestablish Arsenal as a major force in European football. He also emphasised the club’s values and rich history, saying he was eager to contribute to shaping a successful future. Berta added that he was looking forward to experiencing his first game at Emirates Stadium alongside the supporters.
Arsenal’s Co-Chair, Josh Kroenke, praised Berta’s credentials, describing him as an “impressive figure” with vast football knowledge, a strong network, and a proven ability to build winning teams. Kroenke revealed that the club had conducted a thorough recruitment process and had been impressed by the calibre of candidates, but Berta’s experience and track record had set him apart. He expressed confidence that Berta’s arrival would help the club push forward in their pursuit of major trophies.
