Agbakoba Demands Retraction Of Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Akpabio By Senator Natasha.
Dr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and lawyer to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has written a second letter to suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, demanding a retraction of her sexual harassment allegations against Akpabio. Agbakoba described the allegations as “clearly false and unsubstantiated”.
The letter follows Akpoti-Uduaghan’s failure to clarify significant contradictions in her claims, as demanded in Agbakoba’s first letter dated April 14, 2025. Instead of clarifying the contradictions, Akpoti-Uduaghan deleted her social media post, which Agbakoba finds concerning.
Agbakoba’s letter highlights the contradictions in Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations, including the timeline and dates. Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio sexually harassed her on December 8, 2023, but exalted him on her social media accounts on December 9, 2023.
Agbakoba also questioned the lengthy timeline it took for Akpoti-Uduaghan to make the allegation, noting that she only made it on February 28, 2025, one year and two months after the alleged incident. Furthermore, Akpoti-Uduaghan was seen with Akpabio at several events in 2024, including an Inter-Parliamentary Union session in Geneva, where she took selfies and group photos with him.
Agbakoba emphasized that the duty to prove the allegation rests with Akpoti-Uduaghan, and demanded a retraction of the allegations.
