Nigeria’s Nworie Emmanuel Clinches Bronze in GRECO-ROMAN Wrestling, Adds to Medal Tally
On Saturday, Nworie Emmanuel of Nigeria secured a Bronze medal in the 77kg category of the GRECO-ROMAN event, contributing to Nigeria’s overall medal count.
Nworie achieved a dominant victory over Hattingh J. of South Africa with a score of 11-0, asserting his superiority in the match following a semifinal bout marred by controversy.
Reflecting on his performance, Nworie expressed disappointment regarding his semifinal defeat against an Egyptian opponent. Despite his dominant display throughout the match, he was ultimately defeated due to technical decisions made by the umpires.
“I’m truly saddened by my loss in the semifinals. I gave my everything to reach the final, but it wasn’t meant to be. That’s why I channeled my frustration into the bronze medal match,” Nworie commented.
Looking ahead, the focus shifts to Sunday’s Wrestling event, where Nigerian athletes, including Blessing Oborodudu and Odunayo Adekuoroye, aim to excel and surpass the achievements of the Women’s Wrestling team.
