Nigerian Table Tennis Star, Eden Offiong, Clinches Bronze Medal at African Games
Eden Offiong has secured the first medal for Team Nigeria at the 13th edition of the African Games held in Ghana, emerging triumphant in the women’s Table Tennis Singles event.
Offiong’s journey to the podium saw her face tough competition, ultimately conceding the semifinal match to Egypt’s Dina Meshref with a scoreline of 4-0.
Expressing her elation after clinching the bronze, the Spain-based athlete extended gratitude to the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation for their unwavering support.
“I am so happy that we were able to attend the last World Championships in Korea, and this really helped my game a lot. I want to thank the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) for their support, and I believe attending such a competition really helped me personally here in Ghana,” Offiong stated.
She highlighted the significance of increased participation in international competitions, emphasizing the need for more support to propel Nigerian athletes to the forefront of African table tennis.
This marks Offiong’s second consecutive bronze medal at the African Games, following her third-place finish at the previous edition held in Rabat, Morocco.
