African Cup of Nations Kickoff Date Disputed, Says CAF General Secretary
Reports speculating the kickoff date of the 2025 African Cup of Nations have been dismissed by Veron Omba-Mosengo, the General Secretary of the African soccer governing body.
Certain sections of the media had suggested that the tournament would run from July 20th to August 16th, 2025. However, on Sunday, Omba-Mosengo refuted these claims and clarified that the biennial tournament will indeed take place in that year.
“The CAN will take place in Morocco. This is the only thing that is clear and that I want to emphasize. If the African Confederation decides sooner or later, everyone is welcome and there will be no problem,” he stated.
Omba-Mosengo’s statement highlights the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the specific dates of the tournament, emphasizing the importance of official announcements from the African Confederation to avoid misinformation and confusion among stakeholders and fans alike.
