Abia Governor Otti To Seek Divine Guidance On 2027 Re-election Bid

Abia Governor Otti To Seek God’s Divine Guidance On 2027 Re-election Bid.

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced he will seek divine guidance before deciding whether to stand for re-election in the 2027 governorship election. The governor made the statement during a ceremony at Sam Ihesiulor Stadium in Okpuala Ngwa, where the Oha Isiala Ngwa community publicly endorsed his leadership.

Otti described the endorsement as a testament to his administration’s achievements but emphasised that any decision regarding his political future would only be made after consulting with God. “Just as 2023 was in God’s hands, 2027 will also be in God’s hands,” he said, according to his spokesperson, Njoku Ukoha. “I thank you for this endorsement, which I see as recognition of what we have achieved so far. However, I will consult with my God, and in due course, my decision will be made public.”

The governor also provided updates on key infrastructure projects, announcing that the Mgboko–Ntigha road project is on track for completion by December. He reiterated his commitment to equitable development across Abia State, ensuring no region is left behind.

Addressing concerns about the Abia Airport’s location in Nsulu, Otti clarified that the site was selected based on technical assessments, not political motives. He revealed ambitious plans for the project, stating, “We are not just building an airport; we are creating an airport city. It will include a three- or four-star hotel, a Nigerian Air Force base, markets, and shopping plazas.”

Otti also confirmed that all landowners affected by the airport project have received full compensation. “If anyone has not been paid, it may be due to incorrect account details or disputes over land ownership,” he added.

The governor’s remarks come amidst other developments in Abia, including the police shutting down an illegal orphanage and rescuing a six-month-old child, as well as a tragic incident where a collapsed billboard claimed lives in the state. Otti’s administration continues to navigate these challenges while pushing forward with its development agenda.

As the 2027 election looms, Otti’s reliance on divine counsel has sparked interest, with residents eagerly awaiting his final decision.
