Ali Bukar Dalori Appointed Acting National Chairman Of APC.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori as its Acting National Chairman, following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Friday, 27 June 2025. The announcement, confirmed by multiple sources, marks a significant shift in the party’s leadership as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Dalori, a seasoned politician and grassroots mobiliser from Borno State, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Born in Dalori town, Konduga Local Government Area, he has risen from humble beginnings to become a prominent figure in Nigerian politics. His appointment as Deputy National Chairman (North) in August 2023 highlighted his growing influence, overseeing party affairs across the 19 northern states.

A statement from the APC noted that Dalori’s interim appointment aims to stabilise the party following internal challenges, including Ganduje’s handling of the recent FCT Area Council primaries. The party plans to elect a substantive chairman at its national convention in December.
Dalori’s political journey is marked by notable achievements. He previously served as the Borno State APC Chairman, where he strengthened the party’s dominance and fostered unity among members. His leadership earned him the role of Chairman of the APC State Party Chairmen Forum for three consecutive terms, spanning nine years. In recognition of his contributions, the African Institute of Administration, Science, and Commerce in Lomé, Togo, conferred upon him an honorary Doctorate in International Relations and Diplomacy in October 2023.
Beyond politics, Dalori is known for his philanthropy and commitment to his community. In April 2025, he donated ₦10 million and relief materials to victims of a fire outbreak in Wanori and Nguluri communities in Konduga. Following a tragic suicide bombing in the same area in June 2025, he visited affected families, providing financial and medical support while urging security agencies to intensify surveillance.
His appointment has sparked varied reactions. Posts on X reflect enthusiasm from supporters, with some highlighting his role as Chairman of the Governing Board of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi. However, others speculate about the implications for Vice President Kashim Shettima’s political standing, given Dalori’s strong ties to Borno State. These sentiments remain inconclusive, reflecting ongoing discussions within the party.
Dalori’s leadership style, described as inclusive and strategic, positions him as a unifying figure. His extensive experience in governance, resource management, and grassroots mobilisation makes him a compelling choice to steer the APC through this transitional period. As Borno State continues to recover from years of insurgency, Dalori’s appointment is seen as a beacon of hope for stability and progress.
The APC has called on its members to rally behind Dalori, emphasising unity and the party’s progressive ideals. With his track record, the new acting chairman is expected to drive internal cohesion and strengthen the party’s machinery ahead of future elections.
