Abde Ezzalzouli’s Extra-Time Heroics Propel Real Betis To First Major European Final.

Real Betis secured their place in a historic first major European final, overcoming Fiorentina in a thrilling UEFA Conference League semi-final clash. Abde Ezzalzouli’s extra-time strike sealed a 4-3 aggregate victory for the Spanish side, eliminating the two-time finalists in a dramatic encounter.

After a narrow 2-1 win in the first leg in Seville, Manuel Pellegrini’s men faced a stern test in Italy. Fiorentina took the lead on the night through Robin Gosens, who scored twice late in the first half. The midfielder’s headers—first a glancing effort into the far corner, then a powerful strike into the roof of the net—levelled the aggregate score at 2-2, leaving Betis goalkeeper Fran Vieites with little chance.

However, Betis responded brilliantly. On-loan Manchester United forward Antony, who had opened the scoring with a superb, curling free-kick on 30 minutes, turned provider in extra time. Bursting down the right flank on a swift counter-attack, he delivered a pinpoint cross for Ezzalzouli, who smashed the ball past a helpless David de Gea to restore Betis’ aggregate lead.

Fiorentina, visibly fatigued as the match wore on, struggled to respond. Betis nearly extended their advantage when Isco fired over from the edge of the box, but the Spanish side stood firm under late pressure to secure their spot in the final.

Betis will now face Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League final at Stadion Wrocław on Wednesday, 28 May. Enzo Maresca’s Blues advanced with a 5-1 aggregate triumph over Swedish side Djurgården, sealed by a 1-0 win in the second leg at Stamford Bridge. The Seville outfit will look to cap their remarkable European journey with a maiden continental trophy.
