Lagos PFN And ACRM Forge Alliance To Strengthen The Church’s Public Image In Nigeria

Lagos PFN And ACRM Forge Alliance To Strengthen The Church’s Public Image In Nigeria.

The Lagos State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the Association of Church Reputation Managers (ACRM) have announced plans to collaborate in a concerted effort to improve the public perception and reputation of the Church in Nigeria.

The initiative was unveiled during a courtesy visit by the leadership of ACRM to the PFN Chairman in Lagos, Pastor Yemi Davids, at The Goodland, the international headquarters of Global Impact Church.

Speaking during the meeting, Pastor Davids and ACRM Convener, Pastor Joseph ‘Yemi Adeniran, emphasised the critical need to reposition the image of the Church to align with its divine mandate of soul-winning and discipleship.

“Perception is everything. Even Jesus Christ asked, ‘Who do men say that I am?’ It is important that we project the Body of Christ in a positive light, not only within Nigeria but across the globe,” Pastor Davids stated.

He lamented that despite the significant contributions of many churches and ministries to national development, such efforts are either under-reported or overlooked, allowing space for negative narratives to flourish.

“The Church has made invaluable contributions to society, from community development to humanitarian outreach. Unfortunately, many people focus only on what they perceive as shortcomings, rather than celebrating the good being done,” he said.

Highlighting specific examples, Pastor Davids pointed to the Church’s work in correctional and custodial centres nationwide, where many ministries have provided support through legal aid, education, healthcare, and empowerment initiatives for inmates.

“There is a communication gap that must be bridged. We must actively share these impactful stories. The Church is blessed with genuine, anointed servants of God who are committed to their calling. A few bad actors should not be used to define the entire Body,” he added.

He revealed that under his leadership, the Lagos PFN has already embarked on an image repositioning drive, encouraging Church leaders to uphold Biblical standards and maintain integrity in ministry.

“I am encouraged by the positive mindset shift I see among our leaders. This is a new era for the Church in Nigeria to rise as a transformative force and a solution provider in a troubled world,” Pastor Davids affirmed.

In his remarks, Pastor Adeniran explained that ACRM was established to address the declining public trust in the Church due to prevailing negative perceptions. He described the association as a non-denominational body comprising professionals in public relations, media, strategic communications, and reputation management, who are also active members of Christian ministries.

“Our mission is to bring together Christian communication professionals to serve the Church by promoting effective communication strategies and safeguarding its public image. ACRM exists to support the growth and unity of the Body of Christ through advocacy, training, and knowledge sharing,” he said.

Pastor Adeniran added that ACRM would continue to provide a platform for discussions on contemporary issues affecting Christianity, leveraging both physical and virtual channels to influence positive change.

Also present at the meeting were Apostle Tonye Oliver, PFN Lagos Publicity Secretary and Director of Digital Media; Pastor Lere Ojedokun, ACRM First Deputy President (Strategy); and Pastor Akin Isaac Adetutu, ACRM Second Vice President (Planning & Membership).

The collaboration signals a renewed commitment by Church leaders and communication professionals to jointly reshape the narrative around the Church in Nigeria and ensure its positive contributions are clearly communicated and widely recognised.
