Tinubu Appoints Ogunjimi As New Accountant General Of The Federation.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation (AGoF). His appointment will take effect from 7 March 2025, the same day the outgoing Accountant General, Oluwatoyin Madehin, is set to retire.

The announcement was made in a statement by Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, who revealed that Ogunjimi was selected following a rigorous and merit-based recruitment process.
“Ogunjimi, 57, was initially named as Madehin’s successor in December last year,” Onanuga stated. “A selection committee later confirmed him for the position through a competitive and transparent process involving senior Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.”
The three-stage selection process included a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews, reflecting the administration’s commitment to ensuring transparency, competence, and excellence in public service appointments.
Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos (UNILAG). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
Congratulating Ogunjimi on his appointment, President Tinubu urged him to serve the nation with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
