Team Nigeria Exits 2025 ITTF African Club Championships.
Team Nigeria has bowed out of the 2025 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) African Club Championships in Tunis after a semi-final defeat.
The Canaan Queens of Calabar, Nigeria’s sole representatives, were beaten 3-0 by Egypt’s PETROJET Women’s team in the semi-finals at the El-Menzah Sports Hall on Monday.
Led by Fatimo Bello, Janet Effiong, Cecilia Otu-Akpan, and Hope Udoaka, the team impressed in the group phase, securing victories against club sides from Tunisia and Madagascar. However, they suffered a 3-0 defeat to defending champions Zamalek of Egypt in their final group match, finishing second in the group before progressing to the semi-finals.
The Women’s category features eight teams from Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Ethiopia, and Madagascar. The final will see Egypt’s Al Zamalek take on PETROJET later this evening.
In the Men’s event, nine teams from Egypt, Algeria, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Madagascar, DR Congo, and Côte d’Ivoire are competing, with Egypt’s ENPPI defending their title.
Meanwhile, attention now shifts to the ITTF African Cup, which is set to begin on Tuesday, also in Tunis.
