Labour Party Highlights Economic Challenges Facing Nigerians During Christmas.
The Labour Party (LP) has expressed concern over the economic challenges affecting many Nigerians, leaving several households unable to partake in the 2024 Christmas celebrations.
In a heartfelt message, LP’s National Chairman, Barr Julius Abure, highlighted the plight of millions of citizens struggling below the poverty line. The statement, delivered by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, called on society to embrace compassion and show love to those in need during this festive season.
Abure said, “It will interest you to know that not many homes in Nigeria can afford to join in today’s celebration of Christmas because of the economic challenges Nigeria is facing today.” He emphasised the importance of reaching out to neighbours experiencing various forms of hardship, encouraging acts of kindness and solidarity during the holiday season.
Reflecting on the essence of Christmas, Abure reminded Nigerians of the ultimate sacrifice symbolised by the birth of Christ. “God so loved mankind that He had to sacrifice His only begotten Son that we may be redeemed. What a sacrifice. Today’s celebration cannot be complete until we begin to allow the significance of the birth of Christ to manifest in our lives,” he added.
The Labour Party’s message resonates with the true spirit of Christmas, urging Nigerians to make the festive season meaningful by embodying compassion, love, and selflessness in their communities.
