FG Declares December 25, 26, And January 1 As Public Holidays.
The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, 25th December, Thursday, 26th December 2024, and Wednesday, 1st January 2025, as public holidays. These dates are set aside to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year respectively.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
The minister extended warm greetings to all Nigerians and encouraged everyone to use the festive season as a time to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the season represents. He highlighted the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening bonds within families and communities.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” said Dr. Tunji-Ojo.
He also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, which are essential for national development.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo further reassured citizens of the government’s dedication to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country.
In his closing remarks, the minister conveyed his confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, expressing optimism that 2025 would usher in economic growth and progress.
