Veteran singer Eldee The Don has disclosed that he played a pivotal role in the early stages of Grammy-winning singer Wizkid’s career.
In a recent appearance on the Adesope Live show, Eldee revealed that he was the one who convinced Wizkid to focus on Afrobeats.
According to Eldee, when Wizkid was signed to EME record label, he was initially inclined towards Reggae and Dancehall. However, Eldee advised him to create music with Nigerian influences, finding a middle ground that blended local flavors with international appeal.
Wizkid took Eldee’s advice to heart and began producing Afropop songs, including the hit single “Don’t Dull,” which catapulted him to stardom.
