Kemi Badenoch Pledges To Tackle Immigration Surge In The UK.
The UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has expressed deep concern over the rising number of immigrants entering the country. In a viral video shared on X on Wednesday, Ms Badenoch described the UK immigration system as “broken” and pledged to implement significant reforms to curb immigration levels.
Speaking candidly, Ms Badenoch criticised successive administrations over the past 30 years for failing to address what she termed the “exploitation” of the system. “Immigration is at a pace too fast to maintain public services. For decades, the entire political class of this country has presided over mass migration. We cannot go on like this,” she asserted.
The Conservative Party leader outlined plans to introduce what she described as a “real plan” to significantly reduce immigration, marking what she said would be a pivotal shift in policy. Ms Badenoch argued that sustained mass immigration has put a strain on vital infrastructure, including housing and public services, and stressed the urgent need for change.
Her remarks come at a time when the UK faces growing debates over immigration policy amidst a wave of migration, including the trend popularly referred to as ‘japa’ in Nigeria. A Yorùbá term, which translates to “flee” in English, captures the increasing exodus of Nigerians seeking better opportunities abroad.
Ms Badenoch’s bold stance highlights her commitment to reshaping the immigration landscape, signalling a potentially transformative approach under her leadership. As debates around immigration intensify, her proposed reforms are likely to spark discussions across political and social spheres.
