Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has released a new single titled ‘Solo’ after a brief hiatus from the music scene.
‘Solo’, available on all streaming platforms, explores themes of breaking free from toxic relationships and self-discovery.
The song’s lyrics convey Banks’ journey towards independence and growth. “You know through life’s journey some people come in your life/ And quickly start to think you can’t move on or be great without them/ You go put this one on replay/ Memories of me on replay,” he sings.
“Go from Maldives to Bahamas/ Before before la mora wa/ I dey ahead of wahala/ Before I kick the garawa/ Ma jaye mi, ma falala/ Travel the world not just with you, aje. “This time I’m flying solo/ I can’t lie I’m moving along/ On this adventure l don’t need no baggage/ This time I’m flying solo.”
Born Ayodeji Solomon, Banks signed with Mavin Records in 2014. He, however, left the label four years later. He went by the stage name Spicy before his record deal with Mavin Records.
The singer has continued to enjoy fame while working with other prominent singers. Banks has also won a number of awards. He was declared Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014. He also won the ‘Next Rated’ award at The Headies 2015. His first studio album, ‘Spotlight’ was released on September 1, 2016.
