Nollywood actress and filmmaker Georgina Ibeh has expressed frustration with actors dictating casting choices for her films.
On November 12, 2024, Ibeh took to Instagram, detailing her experience with actors imposing casting demands before agreeing to work on her projects.
“This has been happening… I’d call an actor for a job, and after negotiation and payment, they ask, ‘Who is in the movie?’ Okay, this is normal… But some people suggest cast that should be in the movie you’re paying them to act in. They’ll only act if you use their suggested person.”
Ibeh expressed disbelief, citing an incident where she contacted an upcoming actress’s management, only to be asked about the rest of the cast lineup.
“So if I don’t use the particular person you want, you won’t act in the movie? This has been happening a lot… Let this nonsense stop today! Nobody should try it with me or GI films. If I call you, act and go home. Don’t suggest people to me!”
