Bobrisky, the popular Nigerian crossdresser, was recently grilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over allegations of bribing some officials with ₦15 million.
This development comes after a viral audio surfaced where Bobrisky claimed that EFCC officials collected the money to drop money laundering charges against him.
The EFCC has been investigating this claim and even invited Bobrisky and the social media critic who released the audio, Martins Otse (also known as VeryDarkMan), to assist in the investigation.
It’s reported that Bobrisky was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while trying to leave for London amidst these bribery accusations. After his detention in Lagos, he was moved to Abuja for further questioning.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed Bobrisky’s arrest, stating it was due to his failure to respond to the Commission’s formal invitation. The EFCC aims to investigate the bribery allegations and potentially identify the officials involved.
However, it’s unclear if Bobrisky will face bribery charges, as no official decision has been made yet. The House of Representatives has also gotten involved, grilling EFCC and Nigerian Correctional Service officials over these allegations.
