RCCG Pastor Suspended Amid Allegations, Denies Claims Of Homosexual Conduct.
Ayorinde AdeBello, a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has publicly denied recent allegations of homosexual conduct involving teenage boys, which led to his suspension. In a statement posted on social media, AdeBello expressed his frustration over what he described as a misinterpretation of his words and actions.
The church’s suspension memo, dated 28 October, outlined the decision to temporarily relieve AdeBello and another church official of their duties. Signed by RCCG’s National Overseer, Sunday Akande, the memo emphasised the need for a thorough investigation and highlighted that the church does not condone homosexuality, citing biblical passages supporting its stance. The inquiry is expected to conclude within two weeks, with officials promising to handle the case with respect and confidentiality for all involved.
In his response, AdeBello asserted that his silence on the allegations had been misconstrued, leading him to break his silence to protect his reputation. He claimed that his comments, which centred on reproductive health and self-esteem in a youth discussion group, were misquoted and taken out of context by the blog that reported the allegations.
