Cole Palmer Named England Men’s Player Of The Year 2023-24.
Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has been named the England Men’s Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season, an award determined by public vote. Palmer topped the list ahead of prominent competitors, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, who finished second and third respectively.
Palmer’s rapid rise in international football began with his debut for the England national team in November 2023, in a 2-0 victory over Malta at Wembley. Since then, he has earned nine caps, starting twice and notably scoring in the Euro 2024 final against Spain, where England narrowly lost 2-1.
The 21-year-old’s achievement follows his PFA Young Player of the Year award in August, after an impressive debut season at Chelsea. Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, netted 25 goals across all competitions, solidifying his reputation as a future star for both club and country.
Palmer is expected to feature in England’s upcoming Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland, as he continues to contribute to the Three Lions squad. His recognition marks the first time a Chelsea player has won the accolade since Ashley Cole in 2010.
This award places Palmer alongside an illustrious list of past winners, including Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, and David Beckham. The England Women’s Player of the Year for 2023-24 is set to be announced later this month.
