The phone line of Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has been hacked, according to a disclaimer posted on his official X account on Thursday.
The Minister has urged the public to avoid communicating via the compromised number.
In his message, Mamman cautioned, “My phone line has been compromised. Please refrain from calling the number and ignore any messages requesting assistance until the issue is resolved.”
The Ministry of Education confirmed the breach on Friday through a statement from its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.
The statement revealed that unauthorized individuals are currently using the hacked phone line, specifically the Minister’s WhatsApp account.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and urge everyone to disregard any message of request received from the said number until further notice,” the statement read.
The matter has been reported to relevant authorities, and an investigation is underway. The public has been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to the compromised number.
