In response to the recent flooding in Borno State, the Federal Government has approved the establishment of a technical committee to review all existing dams across Nigeria.
This was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Ibrahim Mohammed, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu on Monday.
The decision aims to address and mitigate flooding across the country.
The Minister noted that many of Nigeria’s dams, some constructed decades ago, may require maintenance. The technical committee will assess the durability and condition of these dams to prevent future flooding incidents.
