Mariam Eniola Bolaji Makes History With Bronze Medal At Paris Paralympic Games.

The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) is celebrating a historic moment as Nigerian para-badminton player Mariam Eniola Bolaji secured a bronze medal at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris. This remarkable achievement marks the first time a Nigerian and African athlete has won an Olympic or Paralympic medal in badminton (as reported by Totorinews).

Mariam Eniola Bolaji clinched the bronze by defeating Kozyna Oksana of Ukraine in a decisive match, winning 21-9, 21-9 earlier today. Her victory is a testament to her unwavering dedication, exceptional talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

The President of the BFN, Francis Orbih, expressed his delight on behalf of the entire board and the wider badminton community in Nigeria. “Though the journey to this point was a very rough ride, we are here now with a medal to show for all the effort and investment, both from the federation and, more importantly, from the player herself,” he stated.

This milestone was made possible through the collective efforts of various stakeholders, including the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA), the Federal Ministry of Sports Development, and several public and private contributors. Special recognition was given to the late Coach Bello Oyebanji, Dina Sarinena, the states of Abia and Kaduna, and corporate organisations like Mikano International, GIG Group, and Owu Sportswear, all of whom played crucial roles in supporting Mariam’s journey.

Mariam’s success is not only a personal triumph but also a significant moment for Nigerian sports. Her achievement is expected to inspire aspiring athletes across Nigeria and Africa, proving that dedication and perseverance can lead to extraordinary accomplishments on the global stage.

The BFN extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mariam Eniola Bolaji for her outstanding performance. Her victory has made the nation proud and sets a new standard for excellence in Nigerian and African sports.
