The Court of Appeal on Tuesday issued a directive for the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to present himself for arraignment.
The court also prohibited Bello from taking any further legal actions regarding the charges against him until he is formally arraigned.
In addition, the Court of Appeal nullified a previous judgment by the Kogi State High Court in the case.
Yahaya Bello’s whereabouts have been unclear since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest him during a raid at his residence in Abuja a few months ago. The arrest was reportedly thwarted by Governor Usman Ododo, who intervened during the EFCC’s operation.
The EFCC is currently prosecuting Bello over allegations of misappropriating over N80 billion during his eight-year tenure as governor.
