The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have vowed to enhance their collaboration to protect Nigerian consumers from exploitation and unfair market practices.
This was made public on Thursday via the FCCPC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
During a recent courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters, FCCPC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Tunji Bello, highlighted the rising concern over arbitrary price hikes affecting Nigerian consumers. He stressed the urgent need for a unified approach to tackle this growing issue.
“We need to work together to address the issue of arbitrary price hikes, which is becoming a major challenge for Nigerian consumers,” Bello stated.
In response, EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, assured the FCCPC of the EFCC’s full support, emphasizing the importance of a robust partnership between the two agencies to safeguard consumer rights.
“We are committed to creating a fair and equitable market for Nigerian consumers. We will work together to bring perpetrators of economic crimes and unfair market practices to justice,” Olukoyede affirmed.
Both agencies agreed to intensify their joint efforts to protect consumer rights across the country. In recognition of this strengthened partnership, Olukoyede also designated Bello as an Ambassador to the EFCC.
