Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank), one of Nigeria’s leading commercial banks, has firmly denied reports that its website was compromised by hackers.
The bank clarified that the recent disruption in its online services was due to connectivity issues, not a security breach.
A senior executive at GTBank, speaking anonymously to DAILY POST, described the hacking allegations as entirely false. “It’s false. What we are experiencing is a connectivity issue and has nothing to do with the alleged hacking,” the source confirmed.
The clarification comes in response to widespread rumours suggesting that hackers had intercepted customer data through a massive phishing operation.
GTBank reassured its customers that their information remains secure and that the bank is working to resolve the connectivity issues promptly.
