Manchester United Closing in on Bayern Munich Duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Manchester United are on the brink of securing a double signing from Bayern Munich, with Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui set to join the club in a deal reportedly exceeding £50 million.
According to sources, Bayern Munich has accepted a bid from United for De Ligt, totalling £38.6 million with an additional £4.3 million in potential add-ons. De Ligt, who captained Erik ten Hag’s Ajax side to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019, is a key target for United’s central defence reinforcement.
Alongside De Ligt, United are also set to secure the services of Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui for a fee of £12.9 million. The 26-year-old right-back’s arrival is expected to address the club’s defensive needs, especially in the right-back position, an area identified by Ten Hag as essential for strengthening.
This move is part of a broader effort by United’s new hierarchy to bolster the squad, with Ten Hag stating that the club is “eager” to finalise these deals.
Mazraoui’s transfer is linked to the anticipated departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who joined United from Crystal Palace in 2019 for £50 million. United have reached an agreement with West Ham for Wan-Bissaka, who is scheduled to undergo a medical with the Hammers on Sunday.
Earlier in the summer, United made unsuccessful bids for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, indicating their determination to reinforce their defensive options.
These acquisitions highlight Manchester United’s commitment to building a squad capable of challenging for honours under Ten Hag’s leadership, with De Ligt and Mazraoui expected to play pivotal roles in the upcoming season.
