GOVIMA reports that some Nigerians are on a nationwide protest, which commenced on August 1, 2024
Human rights activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi has suggested that President Bola Tinubu might be more favored in the Southeast region of Nigeria, based on the geographical distribution of ongoing protests.
Farotimi noted that no protests have been reported in the five states of the Southeast geopolitical zone, indicating a higher level of support for Tinubu in this area. “On the evidence of the geographical spread of the ongoing protests, it is safe to conclude that Tinubu is much more loved in the land of the rising sun than in any other part of Nigeria,” Farotimi posted on X on Friday.
This observation comes as Nigerians engage in nationwide protests that began on August 1, 2024. The protests have been driven by widespread hunger and inflation, according to the organizers.
The absence of protests in the Southeast has been highlighted amidst the broader discontent expressed in other regions, underscoring regional differences in reactions to the current economic situation and political leadership.
