Kelechi Iheanacho Joins Sevilla on Two-Year Deal.
Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has officially joined Spanish La Liga side Sevilla FC. His arrival marks Sevilla’s fifth signing for the 2024/25 season, following the acquisitions of his Super Eagles teammate Chidera Ejuke, Peque, Saúl, and Sambi.
Iheanacho has signed a two-year contract with Sevilla, with an option for a third year. He joins the club on a free transfer after his stint at Leicester City.
The 27-year-old Nigerian striker, standing at 185 centimetres tall, began his professional career in 2014 in Nigeria. He made his move to Europe the following season with Manchester City, initially playing in the youth ranks. Quickly promoted to the first team, he went on to make 64 appearances, scoring 21 goals and providing seven assists over the next two seasons.
In 2017, Iheanacho transferred to Leicester City, where he had previously spent time on loan in their youth academy. During his tenure at Leicester, Iheanacho played 232 matches in all competitions, netting 61 goals and registering 34 assists.
Iheanacho brings considerable experience in European competitions to Sevilla, having played a total of 19 matches in Europe: seven in the Champions League, 11 in the UEFA Europa League, and one in the Conference League.
For the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, Iheanacho has earned 55 caps and scored 19 goals. His most notable achievement came in 2017 when he helped Nigeria win the U-17 World Cup.
