Bayern Munich Confirms Joao Palhinha Signing From Fulham On a Four Year Deal.
Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha from Fulham on a four-year contract. The Bundesliga giants confirmed the transfer on Thursday, marking another significant acquisition in their summer transfer window.
Palhinha, 29, joined Fulham in 2022 and made 79 appearances for the Premier League club across all competitions. He has also been capped 31 times by Portugal’s senior national team. While the financial terms were not disclosed, The Athletic reported the deal to be worth €51 million ($55.29 million).
“This is one of the happiest days of my life. I’m now playing for one of the top clubs in Europe,” Palhinha said in an official statement. The midfielder had been close to joining Bayern in 2023, but the transfer fell through on deadline day.
“Joao Palhinha was highly sought after by Bayern even last summer – and rightly so,” said Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport. “It was important that we never lost touch. Joao really wanted to come to Bayern, and we need players like that. He’s an important building block for our future.”
This transfer follows Bayern’s appointment of Vincent Kompany as head coach after their 11-year reign as Bundesliga champions was ended by Bayer Leverkusen. Palhinha is Bayern’s second major signing from the Premier League this summer, following the acquisition of winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
With these new additions, Bayern Munich are looking to reinforce their squad and reclaim their title in the upcoming season.
