The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released its weather forecast for the upcoming three days, predicting a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms across various regions of the country from Monday to Wednesday.
According to the weather outlook released on Sunday, NiMet expects sunny skies with patches of clouds over the northern region on Monday, accompanied by morning thunderstorms in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, and Borno states. The afternoon and evening will see thunderstorms in Zamfara, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Borno, Kano, Taraba, and Adamawa states.
In the North Central region, cloudy skies with sunshine intervals are anticipated, with morning thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa states. Later in the day, thunderstorms are forecasted for the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Benue states.
Southern states can expect a cloudy atmosphere with morning rains over Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states, transitioning to thunderstorms across the entire region later in the day.
Tuesday’s forecast includes patches of clouds with sunshine intervals in the northern part, with morning thunderstorms expected in Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Taraba states. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are anticipated in Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Kaduna, Yobe, Taraba, Adamawa, and Jigawa states. The North Central region will experience patches of clouds and sunshine intervals, with morning thunderstorms in Kwara and Niger states and later thunderstorms in the FCT, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, and Niger states.
For the southern states, a cloudy atmosphere with morning thunderstorms in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states is expected, followed by widespread rain later in the day.
On Wednesday, NiMet predicts a sunny atmosphere with patches of clouds over the northern region, with afternoon and evening thunderstorms in Borno, Taraba, and Adamawa states.
The North Central region will see patches of clouds with sunshine intervals and afternoon/evening thunderstorms in Plateau, the FCT, Niger, Kwara, and Nasarawa states. The southern states will start with a cloudy atmosphere in the morning, leading to rain throughout the region later in the day.
