Leicester City Announce Iheanacho’s Departure After Seven Years.
Leicester City have officially announced the departure of Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho, marking the end of his seven-year stint with the club. The 27-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of this month.
Iheanacho joined the Foxes from Manchester City in 2017 and has since become a key player for the team. Over his tenure, he scored 61 goals, with one of the most memorable being the winner against his former club in the FA Community Shield final at Wembley in August 2021.
Reflecting on his time at Leicester, Iheanacho expressed gratitude for the opportunities and support he received. “It has been an incredible journey with Leicester City. I am thankful for the memories and the fans who have always supported me,” he said.
In addition to Iheanacho’s departure, Leicester City has also announced ongoing contract negotiations with his compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi. Ndidi’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the month, and the club is hopeful of reaching an agreement to retain the influential midfielder.
As Iheanacho moves on to new opportunities, Leicester City fans and management will remember his contributions and the significant moments he helped create during his time with the club.
