Alexander Zverev Reaches Fourth Consecutive French Open Semi-Final

Alexander Zverev Advances to French Open Semi-Finals for Fourth Consecutive Year.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev has reached the semi-finals of the French Open for the fourth consecutive year, overcoming Australia’s Alex de Minaur in a spirited contest. The 27-year-old fourth seed secured his spot with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory over the 11th seed.

Zverev now has another opportunity to reach the Roland Garros final, having narrowly missed out in each of the past three years. His next challenge will be against Norwegian seventh seed Casper Ruud, who outclassed Zverev in last year’s semi-finals.

“I’m happy to be back in another semi-final, hopefully I can win one,” said Zverev, expressing his determination to advance further this year.

Ruud, 25, advanced to the last four without playing due to the withdrawal of defending champion Novak Djokovic. The 37-year-old Djokovic pulled out with a knee injury that troubled him during a gritty fourth-round win on Monday.

In the other semi-final, Italian second seed Jannik Sinner will face Spanish third seed Carlos Alcaraz, setting the stage for a thrilling Friday of tennis.

Despite being overshadowed by an ongoing court case in Berlin, where Zverev faces domestic abuse allegations from a former girlfriend—claims he denies—the Olympic champion remains focused on his quest for a Grand Slam title. The trial, which resumed this week, does not require Zverev’s presence in court, allowing him to stay in Paris and concentrate on his matches.

Zverev, who insists the case is “not on my mind,” is now just two wins away from clinching the Grand Slam title that has long been within his reach.
