Siasia Raises Concerns Over Osimhen’s Absence for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Former Super Eagles head coach Samson Siasia has expressed concerns about the impact of Victor Osimhen’s absence on Nigeria’s chances in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
Osimhen, who plays for Napoli, has been ruled out of the two crucial games due to an injury. Siasia believes that the absence of the prolific striker could pose significant challenges for the Super Eagles.
“It will be difficult for the Super Eagles as they will be without a key player (Osimhen), and while South Africa will be coming with the same coach and players, we have a new coach,” Siasia told SCORENigeria.
The Super Eagles are currently winless in Group C and need victories in their matches against South Africa and Benin Republic to revive their qualification hopes. The West Africans will face Bafana Bafana in Uyo on Friday before traveling to Abidjan to take on the Squirrels three days later.
With Osimhen sidelined, the Super Eagles will need to find alternative strategies to secure the much-needed wins. The team’s new coach will also face the challenge of quickly adapting to the squad and implementing effective tactics in the absence of their star forward.
Fans and analysts will be closely watching to see how the Super Eagles perform without one of their key players as they strive to get their World Cup qualifying campaign back on track.
