NFF Affirms Cordial Relationship with Sports Minister John Enoh Following Eyebrows Raised by former Gombe State FA Chairman (Govima Sports Report).
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has addressed recent comments made by Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, a former Chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, regarding the NFF’s relationship with the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh. The NFF has categorically dismissed Gara Gombe’s insinuations as baseless and unfounded.
Since assuming office a year ago, Senator Enoh has been praised for his positive, dynamic, and transparent approach in supporting the NFF and the National Teams. His active involvement has been crucial in driving new initiatives aimed at elevating Nigerian football to new heights.
The NFF emphasized that the strong bond between the Honourable Minister and the football-governing body is essential for the advancement of the sport in Nigeria. They argue that only those who thrive on conflict and chaos would be unhappy with a healthy relationship between the Ministry and the federation.
Specifically addressing Gara Gombe’s concerns about the Minister’s involvement in Nigeria’s bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, the NFF clarified that such bids are spearheaded by the Government, not individual sports federations. Successful bids require visible and active governmental support.
The NFF commended Senator Enoh for his commitment to changing the negative narratives in the sports industry. As he marks his first year in office, the federation celebrates the significant strides made under his leadership and assures continued cooperation to achieve his visionary goals for Nigerian football.
The NFF’s Communications Department issued this statement, reaffirming their support for Senator Enoh and highlighting the positive impact of his tenure on Nigerian football.
