The Kano State High Court, under the leadership of Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, has ordered the immediate evacuation of Aminu Bayero from the Nasarawa Palace.
This decision was made following an ex-parte application by Barrister Ibrahim Isa Wangida, representing the applicants.
Justice Aliyu issued an interim injunction preventing Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the four dethroned emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from parading themselves as emirs.
This order will remain in effect until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice, which is scheduled for June 11, 2024.
The court’s order specifies: “An order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Defendants, either by themselves, their servants, privies, or any other persons or officers acting on their behalf, from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed by the applicants.
“Additionally, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State is instructed to immediately take over the palace of the Emir of Kano located on State Road, Kano, and evict the 1st Defendant/Respondent from the said palace pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice dated May 24, 2024.
“The court further orders that the 1st to 5th defendants are restrained from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye in the interest of peace in Kano pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
“It is also ordered that the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, ensures the immediate implementation of this court order in the interest of justice.”
The court has set the hearing for the motion on notice for June 11, 2024.
