NPFL Matchday 33: Enyimba and Akwa United Secure Away Wins

Matchday 33 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) saw thrilling action across various venues, with Enyimba and Akwa United achieving the only away victories on Sunday.

At the Umuahia Township Stadium, Enyimba emerged victorious in a closely contested oriental derby, defeating Abia Warriors FC 1-0. Bernard Ovoke scored the decisive goal, giving the People’s Elephant a hard-fought win.

In Owerri, Heartland dominated their match against Gombe United FC, securing a convincing 3-0 victory. The hosts showcased their superiority, leaving Gombe United unable to find the back of the net throughout the 90 minutes.

Enugu Rangers FC put on a stellar performance at the Cathedral, defeating Bayelsa United FC with a commanding 3-0 scoreline. The in-form talisman, Godwin Obaje, scored in both halves, delighting the home fans and ensuring a resounding win for the Flying Antelopes.

In Ilorin, Kwara United edged out Remo Stars in a thrilling encounter, winning 3-2. Wasiu Alalade opened the scoring for the Afonja Warriors in the first minute, and another goal just before halftime put them in control. Despite a late scare when Remo Stars scored two quick goals, Kwara United held on to secure the victory.

At the Muhammad Dikko Stadium, Shooting Stars were held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Katsina United. Both teams showcased their attacking prowess, but neither could secure the winning goal in a game filled with controversies.

Overall, Matchday 33 provided exciting football action and significant results, with Enyimba and Akwa United’s away victories highlighting the day’s events. As the NPFL season progresses, fans can look forward to more captivating matches and dramatic moments on the pitch.
