Nigerian Football Federation Delegation Visits Tijani Babangida After Tragic Accident
A delegation from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), led by President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Executive Committee member Timothy Heman Magaji, and General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed heartfelt condolences to former Nigeria international forward Tijani Babangida.
The visit followed a tragic auto accident on the Kaduna – Zaria Road that claimed the life of Tijani’s younger brother, Ibrahim, a member of the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets.
In a show of solidarity and support, the NFF delegation, including Technical Director Coach Augustine Eguavoen, NPFL Board Member Jude Anyadufu, and former Nigeria internationals such as Emmanuel Babayaro and Austin Popo, among others, visited Tijani Babangida at a hospital in Abuja.
They extended their sympathies for the loss of Ibrahim and Tijani’s infant son, Fadil, who tragically passed away during surgery.
Additionally, they wished for the swift recovery of Tijani’s wife, Maryam, who underwent facial surgery and remains under intensive care at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria.
During the visit, the delegation conveyed prayers and well-wishes for Tijani Babangida and his family, acknowledging the difficult time they are facing.
The NFF officials reaffirmed their support and solidarity with one of Nigeria’s football legends during this challenging period.
