Nigerian Referees Selected for WAFU Zone U17 Cup of Nations Qualifiers
Nigerian football referees Salihu Basheer and Muhammad Yakubu have been chosen to officiate at the upcoming WAFU Zone U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Basheer will serve as one of the center referees, while Yakubu will be working on the lines during the tournament, scheduled to commence on May 15 and conclude on May 28.
A total of 14 officials, including Basheer and Yakubu, will oversee matches during the competition as Zone B kicks off the qualification rounds for the U-17 Cup of Nations.
The qualifiers will feature seven teams, including powerhouses like Ghana and Nigeria, vying for a coveted spot at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations later this year.
Ghana finds itself in Group A, competing against tough opponents such as Cote D’Ivoire and Benin. Meanwhile, Nigeria leads Group B and will face off against Burkina Faso, Togo, and Niger in a bid to secure their place in the prestigious tournament.
The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, reigning champions of WAFU B Zone, will aim to defend their title with determination and skill.
