Former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who stirred controversy by refusing to return government vehicles allocated during his tenure, says he perceives those demanding their return heartless.
In an interview, Shaibu addressed the issue, revealing that the vehicles in question were not new but refurbished ones that had belonged to previous deputy governors. He clarified that the vehicles included two Prado SUVs used by Lucky Imasuen, a Hilux previously utilized by Dr. Pius Odubu’s wife, and a Land Cruiser formerly employed by Odubu himself.
“I took all those vehicles to the mechanic who changed their engine and refurbished them. Those are the vehicles that they are telling me to return,”
The ousted deputy governor expressed frustration at the demands for the return of the vehicles, labeling those making the requests as lacking compassion. “So, you can see how heartless men can be. I got only one new vehicle in almost eight years that I served as the deputy governor of the state,” he said.
Shaibu also addressed his impeachment, previously accusing Governor Godwin Obaseki of orchestrating it. However, he disclosed that he has forgiven Obaseki and is open to reconciliation.
