Celebrity barman, Cubana Chief Priest, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reached an agreement to settle the naira abuse charges against the socialite out of court, sources have revealed to The Nation.
This decision came to light during the resumption of proceedings on Thursday, where it was disclosed that an out-of-court settlement had been reached.
Previously, on Wednesday, April 17, the Federal High Court in Lagos State granted Cubana Chief Priest bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties, following his arraignment before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on three counts related to the abuse of the naira.
The charges stemmed from an incident at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024, where Cubana Chief Priest allegedly sprayed the naira during a social event, violating provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
Reports indicate that the socialite was also accused of tampering with the nation’s currency while engaging in celebratory dancing at the event.
Further details are expected to emerge soon as the case progresses.
