The Nigerian Correctional Service has announced plans to publicly disclose the identities and photographs of the inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State.
Adamu Duza, the spokesperson for the NCoS Federal Capital Territory Command, revealed this development on Thursday.
According to reports, the custodial centre experienced extensive damage during a heavy downpour on Wednesday night, resulting in the escape of 118 inmates.
The inclement weather caused significant destruction to the facility’s infrastructure, including breaches in the perimeter fence, which facilitated the escape.
Fortunately, efforts led to the recapture of 10 of the fleeing inmates. Duza stated that the NCoS, in collaboration with various security agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), is actively engaged in combing neighbouring communities to locate the remaining escapees.
Duza emphasised that the NCoS would soon release the names and images of the escaped inmates to aid in their swift recapture.
