In a significant step towards enhancing transportation infrastructure, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, announced today the commencement of a week-long test run for the Redline Rail project.
The announcement came during a press briefing marking the launch of the 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing by the state’s Ministries, Directorates, and Agencies.
During this test run, stakeholders and various groups will have the opportunity to experience the service firsthand, riding the train from Agbado to Iddo.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving public transportation and providing efficient services to Lagosians.
In addition to the Redline Rail project, Omotoso outlined plans to address the connectivity of roads to rail and ferry terminals, aiming to streamline access for commuters. These measures are expected to alleviate congestion and enhance the overall transportation experience in the state.
Highlighting further development initiatives, Omotoso revealed that foreign investors are scheduled to arrive next week for discussions on the Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Lekki Airport projects. These projects hold significant promise for bolstering Lagos’ economy and positioning it as a hub for commerce and travel in the region.
The announcement reaffirms the commitment of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Administration to the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, with a focus on delivering tangible benefits to the people of Lagos. With infrastructure development at its core, the administration remains dedicated to fulfilling its mandate of providing dividends of democracy to all Lagosians.
