On Wednesday, a staggering 29 suspects found themselves before the Chief Magistrate Court, facing charges linked to their alleged involvement in the foiled attempt to invade the Oyo State Government Secretariat on April 13.
The charges levelled against them include treasonable felony, unlawful society affiliation, illegal firearm possession, going armed, and behaviour likely to incite a breach of peace.
The Investigative Police Officer, Inspector Bakare Rasaq from the State Criminal Investigation Department in
Iyaganku, Ibadan, outlined the offences, citing violations of Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
This arraignment marks an increase of eight more suspects since the initial parade of 21 individuals by the Oyo Police Command. The case, registered under charge number Mi/520c/2024, is set to proceed as the Commissioner of Police confronts the 29 accused.
